Blogging Principles
At CottonTimer one of her commentators behaved in a vexatious manner, which led to Cotton-Pickin’ Days Blog Archive How To Talk To A Blogger.
Blogs function with transparency and good faith. If you ever find yourself in the same situation as this guy, leave a nice comment for the blogger asking for ways to correct the situation. But NEVER NEVER NEVER ask them to censor their post.
I don't totally agree with her.
A while ago, TMAO both linked to me and criticized me. So I left him a comment (as Cotton TImer suggests). Since then, I've written several posts about his teaching work (including his challenge to Reed Hastings)--we comment regularly on each other's blogs.
I've also censored/removed posts in response to requests, or on my own hook, upon better judgment. That is, I've reconsidered what I've said, and altered it. Why? I'm trying to live my blog principles.

There's a difference between you deciding to retract what you've said because you've changed your mind or decided it doesn't fit with your principles and someone else asking that you do so.
I probably over-reacted a little to this person's e-mail, but that's genuinely how I feel. He could have used a little more finesse. In any case, I was still telling the truth and that stands on its own without any need for alteration/altercation(?).
