Acid violence is "the deliberate use of acid to attack another human being. The victims are overwhelmingly women and children.
Acid violence is a particularly vicious form of premeditated violence, where acid is thrown usually at the face to disfigure, maim and blind, but not to kill.
Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) is the only organisation whose sole purpose is to work towards the end of acid violence across the world.
My e-friend Avicenna is raising money for ASTI through a walk through Nepal. The walk is also supported by Freethought Blogs. Please join me in donating to Avicenna's fundraiser.
If you need more information, please watch the video "Saving Face" on the work of ASTI. "Acid attacks" or "acid violence" is also called vitriolage and you can read more about the crime at Justice for Women
