Professor Plum lays down the law. I don't agree with him 100% -- but we would be much, much better off as a nation if direct instruction was ruling our classrooms.

My graduate school experience in education did have plenty of buzzwords floating around -- best practice, developmentally appropriate, etc. -- but I had many good classes in which there were solid research findings to back up those claims. Perhaps that person needs to do some research about how graduate education functions before making his claims.
