You might be surprised at what is being taught in science courses in colleges across our land. I am sure the political affiliations of the teacher (which often reflects the attitude of the area) affects the content of the course. I personally have taken more than one course at public institutions where the teacher's preference for a certain type of science history influences course content in spite of what the textbook has or has not printed in it. Teachers are no different from the general populace in omitting or emphasizing what fits their own preference. That very predilection is what changes cultures.

this is quite the sad state of affairs we find ourselves in. Normal, rational Americans are forced to pander to the needs of right wing religious conservatives because they are scared. They have been taught their entire lives that the bible and Jesus dictate they spend eternity burning in hell for disagreeing with religious dogma. That's one hell of a way to win an argument, "think we're right or burn in hell" Religion is defined as "A religion is a set of beliefs and practices generally held by a human community, involving adherence to codified beliefs and rituals and study of ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience" thorughout the course of human existence, there have literally been hundreds of them, every single person on earth has a religion, even if they are secular. Your religion simply sums up your viewpoint of how the world came to be and how you should act in that world. The audacity that any person must have to assume his/her religion is the only correct one and that everyone should honor it is astonshing. As the results of that mindset have a done and will continue to not only be a disservice to humans worldwide, religion itself might just be the single greatest threat to mankind's continued existence
