Remember all the to-do over the alleged liberal "War on Christmas"? (for my money, one of O'Reilly's dumbest events ever).
Well, now PZ Myers is declaring: War on Easter!. Oh, wait, it isn't him, it's that snake-girl.
It really does make my head explode, sort of. I mean, Christmas celebrates the birth of a religious figure, but the real deal (theologically speaking) is Easter. Why is there a book, the War on Christmas, but no such to-do over Easter?
Update: Echidne tells me that The WorldNetDaily rises to the occasion! YES! Easter is under attack! You can tell because that potent religious symbol of Christ's resurrection, the Easter Bunny, is mascarading as the pagan Spring Bunny....are these folks terminally confused about theology and symbolism?
The event caught the attention of WorldNetDaily reader Tim Edwards, who says, "It appears that this very important Christian holiday is under assault just like Christmas is."
It's all smoke, mirrors, and emotion.
You just have to wonder about folks like Edwards. Wouldn't a really observant Christian avoid the Easter Bunny (with his clear Pagan roots). To be fair, the WorldNetDaily does elucidate the non-Christian symbolism of eggs and bunnies and nests and so on....
