Michele Boutwell

I developed a scope and sequence and corresponding lesson plans for Orton-Gillingham instruction. I also wrote corresponding decodable text so that students would have explicit practice with the skills they are taught and develop fluency. I am a professional development specialist, so I train teachers in Orton-Gillingham and the use of the materials I developed on my personal time. School districts have implemented whole class instruction with phenominal results! Kindergarten students are reading passages and have incredible word reading rates. O-G has always been successful with struggling readers, but it is very effective as part of a core reading program.
