Aundrea Lacy was in her last term in college when she was diagnosed with dyslexia. It turns out that the condition contributed to her success:
Aundrea started baking for a friend in college who helped her land a job at a Fortune 500 computer company. As a thank you, she asked her friend what he wanted. He replied: “Just bake me some brownies.” Aundrea whipped up the ingredients and delivered the brownies to her colleague. He replied: “Those brownies are awesome.”
During her graduating semester at San Jose State University, Aundrea and her counselor realized she failed the same math class five times. A few weeks later, she was tested for dyslexia. That's when she realized; she had been transposing numbers and had also transposed her famous brownie recipe by accident. Realizing that some detriments are blessings, she created and started her company Luv's Brownies.
Lacy has written two books, one, Luv Story, published online, and one, Brownie Points, to be published spring 2007 from Agate Publishing.
I'm hoping to meet Ms. Lacy in person.
