I think it was Mahatma Ghandi who said something along the lines of....you can be in a minority of one, but truth is the truth.
I'd rather be a nutjob who has a valid opinion, than someone who goes along with the herd to conform.
You're right in your point that the more people with the same opinion, the more power they have.
