I've been tagged for the 8 Random Things meme by my friend and inspiration, Kristina Chew.
There are rules, you know:
1. Let others know who tagged you.
2. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
3. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
4. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.
I've satisfied #1. Numbers 2-4 below the fold.
- I've very provincial. Other than some sojourns of a few months, I've always lived within a few seconds both latitude and longitude of 37° 25' N, 122° 10' W.
- I can't carry a tune to save my life. It's a big regret--I'd love to have her singing voice, or hers.
- I hate and despise ironing clothes. Even extreme ironing isn't worth it.
- In grammar school, I was in a theater group. My big role was Tiny Tim. After that, one other part in a theater production. My sister Janet has a bit part in Animal House.
- I've been skiing for 50 years or so. Seeing moonlight sparkle on the snow is one of my earliest memories--I think we were staying near Badger Pass. I think the year was 1955. I probably first mastered the snowplow in January of 1958.
- I was miserable in grade school. Thank fortune for Dyke Brown and the Athenian School.
- I have a deal with molluscs, crustaceans, and echinoderms. On the whole, I don't eat them and they don't eat me. Oh, wait. Except for abalone, rarely, and some shrimp.
- My grandparents lived near the La Brea Tar Pits, and when I was eight, I was obsessed with extinct mammals and dinosaurs. I had a big fantasy about having a saber tooth cat as a companion.
O.K., You're It!--a lot of my blogfriends and regular reads have already been tagged so I'm going to reach into new-to-me and strangers.
- Dahgurl --Shawn Mason Spence, homeschooling mother of three, all the way on the other side of the country.
- Parentalcation--Rory Hester , because he kicks butt and takes names.
- San Bei Ji--Joe Lewis. Read the memorial he wrote for his grandfather, Ed Ellis, who was also an influence on me. I think I graduated from Athenian before Joe was born.
- Jo Spanglemonkey, to keep her busy.
- Oh No A WoC PhD-- She's a friend of Miss Profe's,
- Liza's EyeView, because she's a fellow Schwabbie.
- Joy Unexpected, because she's going to BlogHer 07 and I'm not.
- Sarpy Sam, because he got the baling done.
I'm sorry, I don't have the strength right now. But thanks, buddy.

I went to high school with some Athenian School alumnae----and I cannot sing to save myself!

I was actually probably 1 and a half years old at Athenian when you were there. And yes, I was there - I lived in Ed Ellis's house, and that is where I grew up.
I see you also worked at Schwab? I was there for just one year - 2003 to 2004. Deary Duffie was also an Athenian alum - he was head of HR at Schwab for a while. I saw him at the memorial for my grandfather just a few weeks ago.
Great blog - enjoyed your post on civility and look forward to reading more. I perpetuated this meme here: http://www.sanbeiji.com/archives/796
