The She's Geeky (un)conference will provide an agenda-free and
friendly environment for women who not only care about building
technology that is useful for people, but who also want to encourage
more women to get involved.
It is designed to provide women who self-identify as geeky and who are engaged in various technology-focused disciplines with a gathering space in which they can exchange skills and discuss ideas and form community across and within disciplines.

The need for the unconference:
Women working in tech often face challenges that make it difficult to communicate authentically within their own working environments because they are the one women among many, or in a small minority within a male-oriented culture. This often means that, to contribute effectively, women sometimes adopt a more typically "masculine" style of collaboration. Or, they end up playing an exaggerated "feminine" role as the nurturer of the group.Although there is an increase in the proportion of women in different technical fields, they are still a noticeable minority, especially in some of the more disruptive technology sectors. We believe that the increased involvement of women in all areas of technology can lead to more opportunity, plus a more supportive and civilized environment and better technology goals for everyone.
are you going? It's something I may just have to look into!
