Yesterday's party, the pre-BlogHer2010 Bay Area meetup, was very much enhanced by the food!
The backbone of the noms was provided by our friend Maryanne Bloomquist of Bloomquist Catering. My two favorites:
- shrimp wrapped in snowpeas with a piquant green dip, perhaps related to chermoula?
- A romaine leaf stuffed (or layered) with chopped peppers, onions, and something...I ate all the ones I brought home before I really analyzed it.
Maryanne also recently opened Cocoa Java at 2137 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City. I'm there a couple of times a week. It's a coffee, tea and pastry shop. Maryanne's a California Culinary Academy trained pastry chef, and the little bites are indeed a cut above what is offered at the chain shops.
So go stop by and enjoy.
