That is unfortunate, if true, but it kinda makes sense. After seeing the controversy the SafeMinds ad engendered, if I were in AMC management, I would probably just want to avoid the issue altogether, as well. Like you say, they probably are not familiar with the mistaken nature of groups like SafeMinds and simply want to avoid anything that would risk their business.

This is a situation where the politics trump the science.

The whole topic, I suspect, is one that those outside the vaccine wars feel a bit whiplashed when they are exposed to the level of rancor that those of us on the inside see far too often.

Hopefully, television PSAs will reach people. Hey, wouldn't it be something if Fox News aired a responsible PSA during a commercial break when they're running a pro SafeMinds segment?

Well, according to AoA, I'm not sure that would work. After all, it's progressives that don't "get" autism. Then again, according to that other source of wisdom, AoA (not to be confused with the AoA that thinks progressives don't "get" autism), it's conservatives that don't "get" autism, so we may have a chance.
