The International Meeting on Autism Research (IMFAR) is the annual meeting of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR). The most recent meeting of IMFAR took place last week in San Diego.
Oddly, the website that bills itself as "the daily web newspaper of the autism epidemic", Age of Autism, did not appear have a representative there. The only coverage of the meeting to date is a diatribe against Laura Schreibman (link to diatribe, link to Schreibman's CV). A friend pointed out that the jumping-off point for the diatribe was not any presentation Laura Schreibman made at IMFAR2011, but a April, 2007 lecture from the series, Grey Matters, put on by the University of California San Diego.
Good thing that Age of Autism isn't the only coverage available.
Autism parent and poster presenter Matthew J. Carey is blogging about IMFAR at the group blog, LeftBrain/RightBrain, where he is a regular contributor under the nom de blogue Sullivan. Reports can be found at http://leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk/category/science/imfar/ (LB/RB recently changed servers, and some anomalies persist.)
Autism parent and fellow Thinking Person's Guide to Autism Shannon des Roches Rosa received an Autism Science Foundation travel grant to attend IMFAR, and is posting her responses at TPGA: http://thinkingautismguide.blogspot.com/search/label/IMFAR
