Modified from a comment by JohnV chez Respectful Insolence:
If I have a bucket of ice cream in one hand and a bucket of poop in the other, if just the tiniest speck of poop gets in the ice cream, the whole bucket is ruined.
Yet no matter how much ice cream you put in the bucket of poop, it is still just a bucket of poop.
This little aphorism has so many uses. It's kind of related to falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus (but as Orac observes, that maxim can be used by denialists).
