Remember the Pepsi Refresh campaign? In May, 2011 one of the projects funded was this one: LM Kaydus's Animals for Autism project.
Kaydus's project turned out to be a scam. She has been brought to justice.
An Illinois woman has agreed to pay restitution after being accused of a scam in which she allegedly promised to provide specially trained companion animals for children with autism.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan says Lea Kaydus had collected more than $5,000 through her organization, Animals for Autism. Kaydus lives in Glenarm, near Springfield. In some cases, families got pictures of the puppies that were supposedly being trained to work with their children. In reality, the pictures had been taken years earlier and the dogs had no connection to Animals with Autism.
To settle a lawsuit filed by the attorney general, Kaydus agreed to repay the money she collected and abide by state fraud laws in the future.

Dear Yul4ik99,
After a review of your application we regret that we cannot have use of our trained service dogs. It is that we value their safety.

I was going to delete Yul4ik99's comment, but Chris's response was so funny I decided to leave it up.

Well, it would be very bad if Yul4ik99 came into contact with those sweet and valuable puppies! Naughty Yul4ik99. Good puppies!

It's just good to know that Kaydus has been found out and stopped. I can't imagine why people would do such a thing and use a disability to steal from others.
