Point #11
The following are NOT opinions, but actual verifiable facts. Research any of it if you have doubts or just want to expand your knowledge.
11) many doctors receive incentives or bonuses when a certain percentage of their patients are vaccinated, begging the questions "if vaccines work so well, why do they have to push them so hard," and "if my doctor is essentially getting paid to give me shots, how do I know his intentions aren't just self serving?"
Another set of nested claims.
- Doctors are given incentives or bonuses to vaccinate
- The set of doctors who are incentivized are "many"
- Vaccines are ineffective, therefore doctors have to be incentivized (bribed) to push them.
This whole chain of "reasoning" falls apart when the fundamental flaw is uncovered: there was one pilot program, under one insurance company, in one state, that withheld a portion of physicians' compensation (that is, the money due to them under contract) unless they met a number of different "wellness" goals, including percentage of pediatric patients fully vaccinated on time. The state in question has about 3% of the entire population of the US, so "many" is a bit questionable here.
See this post from 2016, Do Doctors Get Paid to Vaccinate?
There are many problems with this claim. First of all, most people opposed to vaccines (POTVs) are not recognizing or posting that this program is only for BCBS of Michigan providers and only if they join the incentive program, called the Physician Group Incentive Program. Secondly, POTVs are not clarifying this only works for patients insured by BCBS, with providers enrolled in the program. Thirdly, they are also not clarifying that the program is comprehensive and involves many different healthcare outcomes, not just vaccines. There are incentives for helping patients achieve healthy weight, healthy diabetes control, hypertension control, and more. Finally, POTVs are not sharing that these programs SAVE the insurance company money.
Or this 2017 analysis from a pediatrician:
A pediatrician who intentionally doesn’t vaccinate their patients might suffer under this type of program, but most of them don’t seem to take insurance anyway. Their patients usually have to pay cash for the “benefit” of seeing a vaccine-friendly doctor.
It is true that a tiny subset of physicians are enrolled in an incentive program that rewards (among other things) achieving childhood immunization goals. The rest of the claims are just the author's opinion. VERDICT: MIXED, A combination of OBJECTIVE FACT and THE AUTHOR'S OPINION.
