At sundown today, this observance begins.
I saw this image and found it compelling for this year.
The photograph was taken in Kiel, Germany the night of December 11, 1931, by Rachel Posner, whose husband, Rabbi Akiva Boruch Posner, was a leader of the town's Jewish population. They lived across the street from Kiel's Nazi headquarters.
Across the back of the image, Rachel Posner wrote (in German): “Chanukah, 5692. ‘Judea dies’, thus says the banner. ‘Judea will live forever’, thus respond the lights.”
It's a message from the past to us here and now in the present.

And consider:
This Hebrew world can be translated, "dedication".
Dedication to bringing more light and more justice into the world.
Rabbi Ruth Adar has a lovely collection of resources on celebrating this holiday.
Chag Urim Sameach.
