Housing and Sun Valley

The cadre of physicians working at St. Luke's have an average age of 50+, according to the ER doc I saw.  Will the necessary new physicians be able to live within a reasonable drive time of the facility?  There are answers coming up.

Why EMS & Law Enforcement Need To Learn Spanish

DTs EMT has a great post* on the utility of Espanol (somebody tell me how to do the tilde) in emergency services and law enforcement.

Here too, Spanish was it. No Spanish = No communication.

The deal is, at one point I was fluent in French and living in France.  And one day, I was in Great Pain.  My mastery of French departed.  Words, grammar, the whole deal.  Let the calm, collected people have the communications chops, not the injured or the ill.

Air Ambulance Thoughts for Blaine County

I am planning to make my home in Blaine County, Idaho in the coming years.   The county has one hospital, St. Luke's,  which is supported by Wood River Fire & Rescue ,  Hailey Fire Department, Ketchum Fire & Rescue, and the Sun Valley Fire Department.  (really forward-thinking on the part of the Wood River / Sawtooth Region EMS), there's been great progress in rationalizing the services provided.

For most serious trauma and some serious illness, patients in Blaine County are placed in an air ambulance  (usually this service) and taken to an urban center.  Now they are offering memberships...should I buy one?  Hmmn.  Doctor Sivertson is probably the fellow to ask.

Drinking in High School

Does a high school have the right to test a child for alcohol, using some sort of  portable breath analyzer to test for ingested alcohol?  Do kids come to school drunk (is a bear Catholic?)
