The Big Fish at Buck's: Inscription

The Big Fish at Buck's: Inscription

The caption reads:

I'm Woody I was carved in the early 1900s in N. Calif. from a single redwood log by Enoch Kadashan. He drew from the Tlingit Indian Woodcarving Tradtion of the great seagoing canooes and totem polse. I am a silver salmon and my kind once spawned in the creek behind here in uncountable numbers.

Silver salmon are Oncorhynchus kisutch--and I am not convinced that the stream behind Buck's, which I believe is Union Creek, was ever a salmon stream. It really is a seasonal stream.
